D'Ieteren Guldendelle handles office furniture removal responsibly

D'Ieteren needed to remove office furniture from its Guldendelle site without turning the transition into a waste problem. The objective was to prioritise reuse, reduce unnecessary disposal, and find the best possible route for every item.

Like many large office transitions, the project involved furniture that still had value and could serve employees, organisations, or new offices if handled with the right process.

Relieve managed the removal over two months, assessing collected furniture and routing usable items toward reuse while directing non-reusable pieces into recycling streams.

The project also gave D'Ieteren employees the opportunity to take home selected items, adding another reuse route and extending the life of furniture already familiar to the team.

Of 855 collected items, 751 were rehoused and 11.9% were recycled. The project saved 63.4 tonnes of CO2 and achieved a reuse rate of more than 87.8%.

The result shows how a planned office removal can become an opportunity to extend furniture lifecycles, lower waste, and give a company's transition measurable circular value.
